I am finally catching up with a few finishes/posts after being bogged down a little at work, and spending a fabulous weekend away. Yes, it was a girls weekend at a friends cabin on Lake Hickory, NC. The fall weather was fantastic!! We had a blast with great company, food and wine.
Before I left for the weekend, I finished up the quilt top and back for Cheri d’Amour.
A QDAD design, I had always designed this quilt for Cherie fabric by Frances Newcombe. I changed the original design slightly with the placement of the top and bottom lines.
I love Cherie’s black and white theme and the splash of color in the line. I hoped to highlight that splash of color with the pink and also the great detail in the prints.
For the back, I wanted to tie in the fabrics from the front and add more color. The main print, again from the Cherie line, pulls in the blue, pink and greys from the prints in the front. I think the panel would also make a great matching cushion.

Pretty, pretty quilt! Now, what are you doing for the quilting?
I am going to quilt frames around each of the pieces and then within the frames have circles/ribbons or blank to get texture.
I wanted to keep a 1930’s/French feel but keeping it simple.
That sounds lovely, and I’m looking forward to seeing how you go.
I really like the splashes of color on the front and how they are offset to one side in the quilt top. The panel in the back would make a great cushion!
Such a great finish! I like the design adjustments you made with the lines, and I think those fussy cuts are awesome.
Thanks I liked the balance better that way too, and you know me I seldom fussy cut….it was just lucky thats how the prints laid 🙂

What a fun quilt top! I do love the little splashes of pink, they keep your eyes moving around.
