Give-away Day: Hawthorne threads Gift Card/Books

Hi All! I love this day each year, the opportunity to give back to the community and say thank you. So thanks to my followers old and new.

For those that are new, you can also find me on Instagram (IG) – ml_wilkie. I have been quilting for 3 years and have loved that I can combine my STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) background and my arts side. I discovered through Quilt Design a Day,  modern quilt designing is definitely my favorite aspect of quilting. Many of my quilts are my own designs.

Onto the give away!!….I wanted to make sure that I give back to all those who supported me through the year. So, this giveaway combines two things that I love:

I love receiving your newsletter and find it always inspirational. I still quilt by hand because the idea of quilting a big piece of fabric on my sewing machine is terrifying – I would love to see that process written about. Hmmmm….well, I guess my favorite sewing blog would be SewMamaSew!

I’m not sure my first comment made it through, hope so. But I follow via WordPress and IG, and I’d recommend following lillyellasworld on IG she has beautiful fpp patterns.

I love pillows but struggle with trims Teach me how to put them on correctly, especially matching the ends on all those really cool ones.

I have been quilting for over 20 years and think I am making more modern quilts than traditional. Working with curves is the one thing I still I am not comfortable working with. Thanks for the Awesome giveaway.

I would always like to know more about visual layouts, how to get a pattern to flow and not look blockish or mundane, the creative process to get started.

I need lots of help with the actual quilting designs. I have no trouble designing the tops, but when it comes down to the actual quilt designs I get lost!

I have no idea how to just “let it go” and get started – what would I even put together to begin? I read about other designers’ inspirations but I don’t know how they take that inspiration and put it into something concrete – I’d love to hear more on those thought processes.

I would like to more modern art quilts and I shall find lots of inspiration from your work. Hawthorne Threads is my favourite and I would love to pick some of my favourite fabrics! x Teje

Great giveaway, thank you. I’d love to know more about complementing the patchwork with the quilting. I always go back to overall quilting with simple lines because I’m afraid to try new quilting designs in case I ruin the top I’ve spent time putting together
