Goal this week: Relax….ahhh!!!

We have just arrived to our vacation spot in the mountains of North Carolina, to stay 4 nights and 3 days…time to relax, ahhh. We have never been here in October, so we are hoping to see the great autumn (fall) colors start to come in.

This week, I am hoping to post beautiful photos and some of the results of our relaxing time here. Yes, I carried my sewing machine and craft activities with me. I am happy to say though, that the family have put a 1 hour restriction on electronics, which actually feels very liberating.

Here are some photos of the cabin and its view, from August 2010 – we are staying in the same cabin.

Christmas presents underway

I got a new book on quilting the other day “Quilting Modern: Techniques and projects for improvisational quilts”, and there was a cushion design that I decided would work great for place mats. As Christmas is around the corner, I started the place mats today hoping to get them done so I could cross a present off the list.

My fabric choices for the place mats, the purples being the binding and the backing of the place mats.

Finished front piece of place mat:

I will post the completed place mats soon.

How do you get perfect chocolate covered strawberries?

What do you get if you have toothpicks, styrofoam, melted chocolate and strawberries…..the perfect chocolate covered strawberries; just like the ones you buy.

I hate getting that flat edge on my chocolate covered strawberries. The last time I made them, I had just finished unpacking something that was packed in styrofoam. That gave me an idea….

They tasted as good as they look, you definitely needed more than one 🙂
