Phased Circles {Pattern Release}

Phased Circles is a very special quilt for me. It was the first quilt that truly identifies who I am. It really made me realize quilting is something I want to do, its something I love.

PhasedCircles-1

It was designed from a doodle and plays with color and volume. I recently had a great time teaching the block at Cary Quilting Company. It was so great what other people could do with the pattern using their fabric choices.

Now, it can be your turn. The digital pattern for Phased Circles is now available for purchase, in both my Payhip shop and on Craftsy.

I would love to see what you make, so tag me on Instagram (@ml_wilkie) and use the hashtag #phasedcirclesquilt.

Mad Dash {Pattern Release}

Today I am releasing my Mad Dash Quilt Pattern. It is now available in my payhip and craftsy shops.

Over some time, I had started to collect a significant amount of scrap and panels of Maze and Vale low volume, hand printed fabrics. Saving them for the perfect quilt. After playing around with dashes, inspired by the lines in a text document, I came up with this design.

In my head, I could envision the recently released Art Gallery Fabrics soft Denim for the dashes, and the Maze and Vale prints for the backgrounds.

I love how this quilt turned out. I have two layers of batting and denim on the back as this is now our picnic blanket.mad-dash-back
The pattern includes 3 alternative sizes. The pattern testers did an amazing job. I love their choices.

This pattern is so special to me and is a chance to give back. All proceeds for this quilt, over the next month, will be given to the Cancer Society New Zealand, who provides accommodation and support for New Zealander’s during treatments (all fees will be covered by myself). If funds are sufficient, I will also donate money to another cancer society based in the US.

Background

To give everyone some background, this quilt was created as a gift to my Mum. To give her comfort during chemotherapy, when I could not be there. She is battling against a brain tumor which has now been upgraded to Stage 4. In the past week, she has been re-cooperating at home from a 7.5 hr surgery to try to remove what they could of the tumor.

I did get the chance to spend this week with her in New Zealand, supporting her and my Dad. And guess what, my quilt was in use which is so fantastic to see – gave me warm fuzzies and put a smile on my face.

Anyway, I hope you will help me give back and support those who support others that are going through an incredible hardship and journey. OOXX
