Free pattern for gift tags

Remember this block from my Scrap-bee-licious December blocks, last week? I got several requests for the pattern.ChristmasPresentTagsBlock

Well, after talking with Ayumi Takahashi, who inspired this block design with her flickr image, she graciously agreed to let me write-up the pattern of my block above and make it available.

I am making the paper piecing pattern available for free, on Craftsy here. It will be available, in future, via the button on my right hand menu.

I hope you have fun with it…..I am thinking of making a couple up for Valentines Day and make them as postcards. If you make any up, feel free to add your end results to my Flickr group, I would love to see what you make with it.

Pushme Pullme Block Pattern Launch + Giveaway

I am so excited to make available my Pushme Pullme Block Pattern. The final block measures 15″. It is a quick, easy and versatile pattern.

The overall design came about originally with a quilt in mind, that I am currently making for a friend’s little boy.

My testers have done an amazing job, using the pattern in many ways, highlighting the versatility of the block.  Check out their finishes!!

Ashley @ Wasn’t Quilt in a Day created an amazing pillow with teal and pink arrows, with a popping yellow edging.

Kristel @ Work-in-Progress Girl created a mini quilt and played around with the colors represented in the sashing to make it truly unique.

Mara @ Secretly Stitching used it as the front of a very cute play mat tote for her nephew. Extremely adorable.

Sarah @ Sarah Quilts made some great pillows for Christmas gifts for a male friend. I love the use of black and reds.

The pattern can be found on Craftsy and Etsy. I have also added it to my right-hand side menu for easy access.

To celebrate the launch of my pattern, I have TWO GIVEAWAYS.

  1. For the first giveaway, I will give the winner a copy of the pattern + 2 fat quarters of modern quilting fabric in a color of your choice (ie. blue or green or multi colored). To win leave a comment below on what you would like to make with the pattern. If you are a follower, leave a second comment and let me know how you follow.
  2. For the second giveaway, if you leave a comment below + all 4 posts of my testers above you will be in the draw to win my favorite quilting book (at the moment) – Quilt Improv by Lucie Summers.

Christmas blocks – Place mats or table runner

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Needing a break from making the coffee cup sleeves, I decided to break out the Dear Mr. Claus jelly roll I had purchased.

For my current work in progress, I am thinking of making place mats or a table runner with them. I started making a rectangle block based on the “Sunspot” Design from book “The Practical Guide to Patchwork”, by Elizabeth Hartman. This is how it looks so far:

Now the decision is just how to use the blocks, if I use them for the place mats I will cut them in 1/2, the table runner I will use the block as is. Decisions, Decisions.

The craft fair stock is also coming along. This is what it looks like so far (coffee sleeves and chair bags).
