I have so many projects that I have not got to recently, and I have been feeling so behind. Today, I feel like I have made some in roads to clearing that backlog. Yippee!!!
Project 1: Triple Zipper Pouch Swap
First off, I am part of the Triple Zipper Pouch Swap going on over on Flickr, here. Posting of the Triple Zipper Pocket is due on the August 17th and it has taken me forever to get started. I finally have all the pieces cut and ready for sewing.
Fabric Choices:
- Lining: Straw hat blue, Cloud 9 (purchased from Joann)
- Small pocket front: Flirty Flowers Tonal Dots in Pink, Robin Zingone, Robert Kaufman (purchased from Fresh Modern Fabric)
- Small pocket front: Crosshatch in Plum, Architextures, Carolyn Friedlander, Robert Kaufman (purchased from Westwood Acres)
- Back + large front pocket: Hexo in Kryptonite, Technicolor, Emily Herrick, Michael Miller (purchased from Fat Quarter Shop)
- Zippers (purchased from Zipit)
Project 2: Kiwi Cushion/Pillow
I have promised for at least the last two months one of my blogger friends a kiwi cushion in reds and browns. The kiwi (a NZ native bird) is a paper piecing pattern designed by Juliet @ Tartan Kiwi. Her free pattern is now on Craftsy. The pillow front will look similar to this one, except I am using these red and brown improv blocks. The red block for the body and the brown for the legs and beak.
Project 3: Tula City Sampler – Blocks 1, 2, 3
So, I have started the Tula City Sampler Blocks Quilt Along…well the first three are cut. Boy, I did not realize what 6 1/2 inch blocks would mean….the pieces are tiny.
Fabric Choices:
- Spring House Charm Pack (s), Stephanie Ryan, Moda (purchased from Fat Quarter ShopΒ and Β Quilt Taffy)
This fabric line spoke volumes to me when I saw it. Normally, I am not a flower kind of person but the colors and design are fabulous. Perfect, in my opinion, for the Tula City Sampler project.
They are my current WiP’s I am catching up on while on vacation. I am linking up with Lee @ Freshly Pieced for WiP Wednesday.
I really must try that Tula City Sampler, I am finding that I really like sewing smaller pieces together. Your fabric choices are great too, love the bright colors! Block three is just WOW! Happy vacation and happy sewing! π
Thanks Kimee – you will love the Tula blocks if you like small pieces, for sure. I am glad you like the fabrics, definitely not my typical color palette but I love Spring House.
I agree with you – the fabrics you chose for the Tula Pink Sew Along are fantastic. Maybe the prettiest (unmade) blocks I’ve seen yet π
Thank you – I will be during how they turned out soon – I love them π
These are all great projects! Those zippers are amazing π I can’t wait to get started on my City Sampler but I don’t know when I will get to start it π¦
Thank you for the lovely comments. I know what you mean about getting started….I think if it was not for vacation it would not have happened π
I have no idea what the city sampler is but I have seen it all over. Your blocks are bright and beautiful! I love the triple zipper pouch idea, gorgeous!
I am stopping by from the WIP hop, hop by if you get a chance! http://domesticdeficitdisorder.blogspot.com/2013/07/wip-wednesday-july-24th-edition.html
The city sampler is based on a book by Tula Pink and it contains patterns for 100×6.5 inch blocks. There are about 3-5 quilt designs/options in the back. the city sampler quilt along is for those blocks which is up to 24 right now so I am a little behind.
Thank you for the lovely comments and stopping by π
Busy busy! I hope you’re having a most excellent vacation!
It has been fabulous so far π and the weather has held up too!!
Wow!! Fantastic colors
This all looks great! I am having a slump in the creativity department at the moment, so looking at your beautiful work is inspiring!
Thank you, I think that is what is so great about the blogging community π
