Amy @ Badskirt did a fabulous job last week at coming up with the most fabulous and varied color palettes for us to use…credit for all the photographs go to Amy. They were a blast. I don’t seem to be able to move away from the minimal design style yet…so you may see it for the next couple of weeks at least.
I really liked the neutrals in this palette that looked like a great graduation. That lead to this great oversized triangle quilt design.
The perfect Melbourne day was captured in this photo of Amy’s and the tram’s colors add so much to the palette.
While on vacation this past week, my eye was drawn to garage doors of a building. I used those door separators as the inspiration of this design. Not a favorite design.
This color palette surprised me, as I was not sure I could really make this work, but it turned out great. This design was based on symbols on a Rangers station at Chimney Rock, NC (another vacation location).
This is definitely one of the designs I want to make up. A couple of other color choices:
This image is so appropriate at the moment with the State Fair coming into town. I really wanted to play with layers again and the bright colors.
I could not find a way to incorporate all these colors but I did like the warm color palette. I loved the idea of the drawers and the round handles. The widths and distances could reflect open vs. closed drawers, even the placement of the handles would move. This is the design I went with to reflect these thoughts.
If you would like to make or use one of my designs, please email me (ml_wilkie(at)hotmail(dot)com) or leave a comment below. I am happy to talk with you on options and provide the relevant measurements etc. or have you test out a pattern. Also, if you use one of my designs, please use the following text to credit me the design: “Designed by Michelle Wilkie @ Factotum of Arts”.
Linking up with Lorna @ Sew Fresh Quilts for Let’s Bee Social (see button on the right).
These are certainly some promising designs! My favourite is the one from the Boxed palette. The triangle one is great, too. I like that the triangle is pointing from side to side rather than straight up. Thanks so much for sharing, Michelle!
My favorite was boxed! All the color palettes were wonderful.
Love the Rangers Station in the strong bright colors!
