Cirrus Solids Block of the Month Challenge

Have you see the Challenge that Cloud 9 is running for a whole 12 months?? You design a 12″ block (finished) and submit it, and you may be in for a chance to win a full FQ Bundle of their new Cirrus Solids (21 colors). Your entries are cumulative…so if you don’t win this month your design is still in for a chance for the rest of the year. More details on how to submit and rules can be found here.

Why I am telling you all of this? I am “Miss February”. My design “Mind the Gap” won the Block of the Month for February.

You can now go over to Cloud 9 and get the directions (pdf) to make my block. They also have mock-ups of how the block works in 4 different layouts in a quilt. Here is an additional layout example, which I used in my submission:

Thank you to all those that were kind enough to leave comments. There were some great ideas for tutorials. The main areas folks wanted more tutorials include:

  • Learn the basics *
    • Quilting/piecing
    • Paper piecing/ English Paper piecing
    • Curves
  • Lessons on design, color and fabric selection *
  • Pouches/ Bags /Pillows
  • Free Motion Quilting/ Machine quilting

* indicates that these are areas in which I will look into for 2015.

Announcements: New class + winner

I am a bearer of good news today!! Yay, love that when that happens 🙂

My second class for my sampler quilt went live today. It is being run at Spoonflower’s Greenhouse and it’s free!! If you are in North Carolina and happen to be in the Raleigh-Durham area on July 27th, the registration is here. The blocks this time round are:

Please note you do not need to have attended the first class. You can use the blocks in other projects like pillows or table runners.

The first two rows are coming together nicely.
