This month’s theme of anything Christmas, was very appropriately chosen by Nicole @ Modern Handcraft. It also allowed me to use my scraps from the Christmas Stocking, use fabrics I have purchased but not used, and finally try out two block patterns I have on my pinterest site.
Block 1: Christmas Tree Block was inspired by this one by Katie’s Korner.
Block 2: Christmas Gift Tags is one of my favorite blocks I have made so far. I used the idea in this flickr image from Ayumi Takahashi. Aren’t they fantastic. I couldn’t find a pattern so I created a paper piecing pattern, where each of the blocks are 6 x 6 inches (finished so this block below is 12 x 12).
If you would like the directions or the paper piecing of either of the two blocks, let me know and I can share how I made these.
Linking up for Kristy’s Paper Piecing Party.
Hope everyone has a great New Year. See you tomorrow for Book Review Tuesday.

Love these! Nice job.
Thank you :-). I didn’t realize how long they would take, luckily vacation makes everything possible
Once again, you’ve come up with a really cute block. yes, I would like instructions for it please?
I know they take a lot of time to develop the patterns, I mean, so I really appreciate the time it takes.
I will see what I can get up next week 🙂
Nicole is one lucky bee member! Those are fantastic!!
Thanks Daisy 🙂
The tags are great, I haven’t seen anything like that before.
I know, how cool are they. So sweet, a little time consuming though due to the smaller pieces. They landed up wonderfully though (at least I love them :-))
Stop it. Stop it. Stop it. You are a quilting genius. I’m obsessed with those tags. Too bad the blocks I’m making tomorrow are very simple compared to those beauties. Love them!!!
Aw, Shucks. You are so sweet. Your blocks will be fine, simple sometimes can be the best… Look at modern quilts with all the use of negative space 🙂
Happy New Year Ashley 🙂
So much fun!! I would love to know how you made the tags – they are perfection!!!
Thanks Amy. Let me reach out Ayumi. I want to make sure she is ok with handing it out as it was drawn based on her flickr post. I will post it here next week if it is 🙂
That tag block is amazing! Did you draft up the paper piecing pattern by hand or with Threadbias? I’m trying to figure out where to start learning to draft my own as well! 🙂
This time I just did it by hand but the pattern I will ask for testers for in the next two weeks was threadbias.
Oh how cute! The tags would be fun to do with striped fabric on the tag and then embroider my kiddo’s names on them. You know, if I knew how to embroider. 🙂
These blocks are real cute.
I thought, “oh I really like that Christmas tree!” and then HOLY COW the gift tags. Michelle! You’re nuts, in the best way. That gift tag block is my favorite from our group this month. (Sssshhh don’t tell. 🙂 )
The gift tag is definitely one of my favorite blocks too. I am hoping to post the pattern next week :-)….some day I might get you to like paper piecing 😉
Loving those gift tags! They are super cute!
Thank you 🙂 It means a lot when you think something is cute !!

Thanks, and I got permission from Ayumi to post my version of the pattern. I hope to have that done by Thursday 🙂
