2014 – Looking forward

After reading Daisy’s post @ Ants to Sugar, instead of going a fabric diet, I am going to plan out my year (see: Amy’s post @ Badskirt on Curate) to control my fabric purchases and other aspects of my crafty doings.

So,  this post is to see what my year will look like. Take stock on what I am participating in. Also, take a look at my goals.

Goals (keeping it simple)

  • First off, I need to be realistic….I will be doing very well, if I can finish a quilt a month.  Luckily all of them, have more or less been started, so I think this is doable. I will be participating in “A Lovely Year of Finishes” to stay on track.
  • Host Book Review Tuesday every two weeks
  • New Project – Borders and lines (see below)
  • Attempt to be published in a quilting magazine
  • Teach a quilting class
  • Maintain posting a recipe per week

Balance + New Project

I was fascinated a while back, as one of the blogs I followed, posted about the Sketchbook Project, run by the Brooklyn Art Library. You receive a sketchbook and your job is to fill the pages on a given theme.  I was inspired by one of the themes, they had in the list “Borders and lines”.

To get balance back with the other art areas that I enjoy, I have decided to start a year long project to explore “Borders + Lines” in multitude of media. I plan to check in at a minimum once every two months to share what I have done.

You definitely have your year planned out very well. I have my WIP and UFO’s listed and will be working on getting them all completed in the next year. Will be watching what you do.

It is always so great when you can put those WiP’s and UFO’s behind you. That is one of my biggest drivers for this year too 🙂 Thanks for following!! Happy New Year.

I love this plan! It’s a great strategy that seems like it will really work for you. I know myself well enough that I would fall off the schedule by mid January 🙂

I am the same way, but I am trying to aim big and see how it will go, it would be amazing to finish at least 12 items on my list that’s for sure. To do that I need to put more structure around what I do. So here’s hoping. Happy New Year.

great to have a plan, and yours looks doable, i guess the reason i don’t have a blog yet is i don’t want to be accountable lolol

Good grief woman, you’re insanely organised! I’ve got as far as: finish baby quilts for triplets due in April. Finish Tree of Life quilt for brother’s 60th birthday, make storage baskets to organise stash, make more bags, finish Car Quilt (epp hexies), make travel sewing kit for use on 28 hour plane trip in early April, start hexie quilt for same trip, make lap quilt for sister in law. Whether I’ll get that lot done in the coming year remains to be seen!

Wow, do you have OCD? jk I need to write down some things. I have decided that I am going to finish my UFO’s first before starting any more quilts, but first I need to write things down! You have me impressed, amazed and are making me feel accountable. I WILL get organized!!! Thanks for your post.

I would say more likely ADD. I did not realize how many WiPs I have started in the last 12 months. Most of these are current WiPs/UFO’s, and I am finishing these so I can buy more fabric….new projects new fabric :-).

Thanks for stopping in and have a great New Year!!

Great plan! I just have a list I’ve written in a notebook about what I want to do, and what I need to finish! I’m sad the public holidays are mostly over now as it’s been great having the extra days to work on some projects! I’m really trying to force myself to finish a few old WIPs before starting anything new… or at least get the ones that are almost done DONE.
