This past weekend was very productive for me. I managed to quilt and bind the wonky herringbone place mats. The quilting is mostly straight-line quilting at 1/2 inch. I decided to match the binding with the backing fabric. I started hand binding but did switch to machine binding and just top stitched the binding. I love how they finished. These have been delivered to a friend for a belated birthday gift – she loved them too!!
Fabric Choices: Essex Dyed Yarn Linen; Peppered Cottons; Panier De Fleurs Dove, French General. Floral Check Anais Grey by Moda. (also see this post for colors and links for the fabrics)
Final Size: 14 x 18″
Design: Paper piecing Pattern
I am just starting to feel like I have my head above water, which is great. Linking up with Amanda Jean @ Crazy Mom Quilts for Finish it up Friday.
EEEE they came out great!! 😀 I love the greens you used and that binding fabric is perfect! If you get a chance, you should share them to the FB group, I’m sure the others would love to see them. 😀
The binding is such a great accent to the wonkiness.
How pretty! I love that they are so similar, yet unique. What a fun set to have on the table!
These are so lovely! I’m sure she didn’t care that they were late…
They look great! I think that hand stitching binding is great for quilts, but it is really not worth it for placemats!
They look fantastic! Very fresh and modern! Well done!
Such bright cheerfulness for any table! Love those colors!
