Easter Sunday Stash

I have been doing pretty well using my stash more often. The past week or so, I have made some purchases.

Did you know Lotta Jansdotter now has fabrics at JoAnn’s?? She does… and I loved them. They are a little expensive without coupons (@ $13 a yard), but luckily they were on sale (@ $9 a yard) + I had a 40% off coupon, so they worked out to be around $5.50 a yard. My favorite is that oar print on the left…it was also end of bolt so I landed up with just over 2 yards of that print.

I have been doing some new designs that need to have a brown but I could not work out which Kona would work. I had chocolate and earth but did not like those two with the other colors. I landed up buying most of the others from Fat Quarter Shop. I have immediate plans for the espresso!!

Lastly, I decided to pick up some prints from Sew Lux Fabrics, and a few books from Amazon. These were a great welcome home from my business trip yesterday. On my way to the airport and while reading my new Dwell magazine, inspiration hit. So on the plane yesterday, I decided to do some sketches, making sure I did not forget what I was playing around with in my head.Books_Fabrics

That’s it for this week. Linking up with Molli Sparkles for Sunday Stash (see button on the right).

QDAD: Mid-March

I have been playing a bit of catch-up today. I was inspired by having some down time while traveling home today from Boston. Finally, I am posting some mid-March designs.

Please note the palettes for the following designs are on the groups Facebook page.

09 March: Tree-lined Street
I loved this palette, and this design is definitely on my make list and my favorite for this month. I am going to try out Nicole’s tutorial over @ Modern Handcraft.

10 March: Lines I
I started playing around with lines in this design. It was a hard color palette to work with.

12 March: Lines II – Creeping Ivy
Continued playing with lines. I think I want to make a quilt at some stage with the use of lines. I am just not sure if I have that design yet.

13 March: Semi-Circles
I love this design, I just don’t like the colors. I think I will play with this a bit more and brave up to try my hand at curves.

14 March: Diamonds
The text-y print in this design definietly balances out and makes the design. I like the mix of colors in the palette with the plums, mauves and pink + mustard, tan + black.

I am happy to talk with you on options and provide the relevant measurements etc. or have you test out a pattern. Also, if you use one of my designs, please use the following text to credit me the design: “Designed by Michelle Wilkie @ Factotum of Arts”.

Surviving secret projects

This past month, saw a very scant, unusual lack of blogging by me. It’s all due to the fact that I have been finishing off 3 quilt projects, all scheduled for upcoming magazine issues. I am super excited about my first publications (one of my big goals for this year – DONE), though still months out.

With all the excitement though, I have truly struggled with the whole secret project thing. How do you not want to share?!?! Come on!!! If you follow me on IG, you would have seen some hints.

Talking about IG, here are some of my favorite March IG moments.

Looking at April, I think I am going to do some selfish sewing (small things like a sew together back etc, Marsala quilt project and the Umbrella Prints project… maybe on the schedule!!) before going back to more secret projects. April will also include my round of sisterhood traveling quilt for Renee’s quilt, and my first ever do.good.stitches block.
