I love Rachel’s Mosaic Competitions over at Stitched in Color. Today, she posted a competition for one of my favorite colors…Yellow. Go over and check it out, it is a great way to start playing with colors.
My first entry is one of my favorite color combinations blue and yellow, with touches of grey. The greys and blues add a coolness to the palette.
My second entry, I used mostly warm colors to highlight an analogous palette.
Have a go, I promise you will enjoy it. Don’t forget to vote when voting opens.
What do you think about when people mention the color pink? I think of Neapolitan ice cream, Pink Panther, Blossoms / Spring, Pinky Bars, Pigs / Miss Piggy and Breast Cancer awareness.
I am not usually a pink kind of person, but a while ago, I decided to start a very pink quilt for a friends daughter….”Neapolitan”. Here is the first two blocks, with a goal for a finish in July.
The overall design will look like this:
Why am I bringing this up, you might ask? Tonight, while catching up on blog posts, I discovered that Rachel over @ Stitched in Color is running my favorite competition again….yes, a mosaic contest!! The color palette, you guessed, is PINK!!!
I decided to enter a low-volume pink mosaic:
and for the second entry (and my favorite) a saturated palette of pink and orange:
Creating these mosaic’s are so much fun, why not give it a try….go over and check out Rachel’s post.
Today, the finalists were announced and the voting opened for the Washed Earth Mosaic competition, over at Stitched in Color. Great news, I am a finalist along with a couple of my blog and quilting friends!! It would be great, if you go over take a look and vote on your favorite. Voting is open until midnight Sunday.
This is my entry that made it through:
It was inspired by these photos of autumn/fall in Appalachian mountains in North Carolina.
Have a great weekend.
