Fantastic….new fabric from Spoonflower

Last month Spoonflower had a fat quarter sale – buy one get one free (~50% off). I got a little carried away and ordered 42 fat quarters. What can I say – i love the designs available at Spoonflower.

On the weekend the fabric arrived. I am so excited and happy with my choices.

Here is an overview look at the delivery:

I did have a couple of projects in mind for some of the fabrics. For the Orange and Grey Quilt (that now has a splash of green), I was planning on using these:

For a purple quilt like this one, that I have in mind for a future project:

For my coffee cup sleeves that I am making for my work’s Craft fair, I was going to use these as a feature fabric:

And then there were just miscellaneous fantastic fabric that I loved, one being a Volkswagen print which my husband will love:

What did I do !!!???

The company I work for has a Craft fair every Christmas – so today I signed up to have a booth (table) at the fair. This is my first time doing something like this and I was excited about the opportunity.

Now, 3 hours later, I am at home thinking about the severe lack of stock I have for the fair and realizing I have a lot of work ahead of me. The good news it’s not until December 5th – that gives me 25 days!!

The second concern other than time, is what to put in the “Squeek Crafts” table?? I have so many ideas – so far I am thinking (with examples):

  • Patchwork Coffee Cup holders – some with matching coasters (new)
  • Quilted place mats
  • Chair Bags/Chair Pockets
  • Stuffed Monsters
  • Cork Boards

Choices, Choices…let’s see 25 days and counting

Growth charts: Keepsake record

So I am thinking I should make more of the growth charts and post them on my Etsy store…..What do you think?

I love the idea of keeping a record of your child’s height. I started making growth charts for our friends and one for our son, thinking that a door frame is not overly portable. Below are two of the growth charts I have made and have made photos of :-).

The first is the one I made for our son – its “Sam I am” from “Green Eggs and Ham”. The second is “Elmer” who is a patchwork elephant.

Sam I am’s body is made of about 100 pieces of felt, the plate made of tin foil. I try to use different textures, giving it more dimension and more visual interest. The Elmer growth chart also has a flexible multi-pieced stick to record the height, it’s not shown here in the picture.

It starts with an idea. I bring that alive using hardwood, draw a shape free hand, then cut around it and sand down the rough edges. I paint the hardwood white with a few coats of paint. I choose fabrics and other materials, spent time cutting, placing and gluing them on the cut shape.
