My weekend, well Saturday, was spent catching up and hitting deadlines for the two online bees I am participating in.
First off, I finally finished the first of two blocks for my March Scrap-bee-licious bee.
My stash bee blocks for April are completed. I did an angel block this month as well.
I am at an interesting point with my participation in bees. I joined both the bees I am in, for two different reasons.
The Scrap-bee-licious bee is for friendship, as it is made of some of the US-based bloggers that participated in Plum and June’s New Blogger Let’s get acquainted blog hop. I do like the camaraderie of this bee!! Everyone is fantastic.
The other one, Stash bee, I joined to get new skills and see what blocks are added each month.
However, I was so frustrated and a little disgruntled this weekend – I did not want to spend my Saturday making these blocks. I have so many other projects, I wanted to spend time on MY projects. I know I should not have left them to the last minute – but that’s me too :-). Do you all feel like that? How do you balance the commitments of a bee with your other stuff?
Anyway, our guild had a bee today, the kind which is more of a free sew….I decided to reward myself and sew something I wanted to sew. No deadlines. No expectations. I was much happier!!
I am linking up with Alyce over @ Blossom Heart Quilts for Sew Cute Tuesday and Lorna over at Sew Fresh Quilts for Let’s bee social (see buttons on the right).
Folks, last night I got to see, for the first time, Ashley @ Wasn’t Quilt in a Day. Can I just say that it was so wonderful to finally put faces to names of some of my blogging friends lately. We had a great time over dinner in NJ, talking mostly about fabric and quilting. I am sure, my Mum, who gracious agreed to dinner (while I am showing her round NY), was thinking I might have a slight addiction issue. At least it is a “healthy” one, right??
P.S. to Ashley, you do know what we forgot to do though….take a selfie for instagram….what kind of social media butterflies are we ???
I have so many unfinished projects at the moment and these are what I stress about. Not what everyone is doing….the pile that is constantly growing. This week my focus is still on this block which I need to sew up and make one more of:
Finish my Mum’s pillows before she leaves on Saturday – just need to finish the border on the right block and add the back…probably doable on Friday??
Complete at least another two blocks from my sampler quilt….I have this one done thanks to sew down:
Linking up with Lee over at Freshly Pieced for WiP Wednesday (see button on right).
This month’s theme of anything Christmas, was very appropriately chosen by Nicole @ Modern Handcraft. It also allowed me to use my scraps from the Christmas Stocking, use fabrics I have purchased but not used, and finally try out two block patterns I have on my pinterest site.
Block 2: Christmas Gift Tags is one of my favorite blocks I have made so far. I used the idea in this flickr image from Ayumi Takahashi. Aren’t they fantastic. I couldn’t find a pattern so I created a paper piecing pattern, where each of the blocks are 6 x 6 inches (finished so this block below is 12 x 12).
If you would like the directions or the paper piecing of either of the two blocks, let me know and I can share how I made these.
Linking up for Kristy’s Paper Piecing Party.
Hope everyone has a great New Year. See you tomorrow for Book Review Tuesday.
