Finish it up Friday {09.05.2013}

A short post today, I finished making my custom order for 5 wide 3 pocket chair bags. I love how they turned out. As they are a little wider than usual I used some additional interfacing to strengthen the pockets.

Materials:

Dimensions:
Front: 20″ wide x 24″ long
Back: 20″ X 6″

Don’t you love the whale fabric !!!

I got a second order of chair bags this week at my Etsy store – Squeek Crafts. So great news for my store!!

Weekend of small finishes

I am very happy about this weekend’s progress; although, I did not exactly stick completely to my March project goal list. I did have fun which is the most important thing.

A couple of weeks ago, I showed off my first paper pieced kiwi….that has now been transformed into a completed cushion for our grey couch/sofa. To keep the theme of the cushions going, I used the same spoonflower fabrics (designed by Holli Zollinger) I used for the bolster cushion, for the envelope back of this one too. Here’s the great addition:

The next two projects rose from the triple zipper pouch (TZP) finish and trying to put ideas together for new stock (targeted for Western Wakes Farmers Market Craft fair in May). I made a pencil case, out of the same fabric I used for the TZP. This resulted from a mistake when I cut the fabric the wrong direction, based on the pattern, for the TZP….but it worked perfectly for this little pencil case (measures ~9 in. x 3.75 in.).

How could I ignore the “Is that for me, Mum? Where’s my case/pouch?”. So, the second project along these lines was for a single zipper pouch for my son. I love this fabric, it is so fun and great for a boy. It is “Blue Newsprint Circus Elephant” by Nancy Wolff for Kokka Japanese Fabric for the outer fabric and “Yellow Chervon” by Riley Blake for the inside. The pouch measures ~ 9 in. x 10 in. .

Here is my wonderful son checking out his new pouch (but desperately needing a hair cut):IMG_7009

That’s it for the weekend, back to working on my WiP for this week and this time its on my March goal list.

Addicted – my work in progress

So, this is the post where I admit I am addicted to buying fabric. Yes, like many out there – I can’t help myself. I see a cool new print or fabric line and I get an idea and I just have to have it. I promise I have a plan and idea for all of it 😉

I discovered, this week, how bad it is when I decided to start organizing my fabric and workspace. This is my work in progress this week (linking up to freshly pieced)…..keep reading my admission below.

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Below, are photo’s my fabric in the middle of being organized. I am using comic book boards (which are amazing) to stack my fabric easily and allowing visibility. After going through 200 boards and still only 2/3 of the way through….I was thinking – oops, that is a lot of fabric. Now, to some this might not seem to bad but wait – I only started buying fabric sometime September or October last year (yes I am saying…no more than 5 months). Hmmmm….but it sure looks pretty.

But wait there is more…..this is my basket full of more fabric that I am using for dedicated projects – there are at least another 50 fabrics in this basket and most of it is from spoonflower.com. Did I say addicted…..well spoonflower is my favorite shop 🙂

So I mentioned and showed you my fabric, well the other part of my crafts include men’s neck ties…..this is my collection for making neck tie art pieces.IMG_6921

Lastly – here are my scrap jars for all my fabric scraps. I would love to here about your craft addictions (help me feel better, maybe I am part of a club 😉 ).IMG_6920

Oooh – I forgot, here is my most recent purchase which may have to be my last for a while….I love it – my son’s school’s mascot is a penguin and I will use this for gifts for the teachers at the end of the school year.
