Sunday Stash {11.11.2013} + Fort Fisher, NC

Over the weekend I received the Critter Patch fabric for my winning quilt design – Natural Corridors. The amount I received is enough to make up the quilt. It is a very cute fabric line – perfect for a baby quilt. I thought I would pay it forward by making the quilt up over the Christmas break, and donate it to our guild’s charity.

Also over the weekend, I had a blast at the Triangle MQG quilting retreat. I didn’t get everything I wanted done but I have come along way. There were a couple of late nights actually quilting. I was so engrossed in sewing up my projects that I didn’t even see the beach – crazy I know :-D.

The boys (hubby and son) also came along to the beach, and had a great time at the North Carolina Fort Fisher Aquarium. Here are some of their shots (photographer: Daniel Kummer).

Outside the Aquarium (You can see the weather is great. That is my little cutie 🙂 )

First Quilt Design – Contest Winner

I fell of my chair this week when I received an email from threadbias congratulating me in being a runner-up in their quilt design contest. Well, imagine my surprise when they actually posted the results yesterday and my quilt design was in fact the grand prize winner!!!

This was my entry that won. Alyssa Thomas, the designer, posted a wonderful blog explaining why she choose it.  I am so thrilled, and on cloud nine.

I have been playing around with this design. I tried the design with solids, specifically Kona Sunrise. I really like it with solids and think it would be a fun, fast quilt. I actually have the Kona Sunrise charm packs, so I think I will add this to my to-do list.

Through the Shattered Looking-Glass Design

This is just a short post, to share a design I have had in my head for a couple of months and finally managed to get it down using threadbias.com.

Design Name: Through the shattered looking-glass
Inspiration/idea: I had this idea about looking through a looking-glass/magnifying glass Then what if the glass had been shattered how great would improv blocks represent the broken glass.
Color choices: Blues = sky, Orange/red/yellow = flowers, greens = grass

I would love some feedback and thoughts…what do you think?
