Quick update – close to a finish

It takes a village….is getting closer to a finish. I spent sometime last night quilting more of the triangles with 3 designs (here and here).

I have quilted about 20 of the triangles and have about 26 to go. Last weekend, was so productive I am hoping for the same success this on weekend by finishing this project up this Friday or Saturday.

I will definitely be releasing the pattern for this one….a question for you all though that are interested in it…. See the last row, you have 3 triangles and then two triangles. The negative space inbetween would you like the measurements as individual squares (Two (2) 4.5″ squares) or as one piece (One (1) 8.5″ x 4.5″?? Which way would allow you to line up the rows + columns the easiest??

I can not tell you how many times I have forgotten to post my WiP list on a Wednesday lately!!

For this installment, I have narrowed down my list to just to the projects I am focusing on for this month.  One step at a time…. I just need to finish a couple of things.

One of the new projects that I am working on this month, is this Yoshiko Jinzenji Modern Quilt Sampler, for World Book Media. It is going to be a great low volume quilt using her fabrics. This is one of the blocks. I am super excited about this project.

WiP Wednesday: Sisterhood of the Traveling Quilts

The first round for the Sisterhood of the Traveling Quilts is almost finished. I have been working on Renee’s quilt. She made this amazing center using a paper piecing pattern from Angela Walters.

This quilt when I received it made me nervous. I had no idea what I was going to do. The color palette was definitely not my usual palette and Renee’s center was so fantastic. What to do, which direction to take?? I had an idea with one of my previous designs, and decided to play around with it in Quilt Canvas (design tool).

I felt so much better once I worked out this plan, even though the color palette was still a little scary. I went to work and spent a whole day (while on vacation) starting to piece together my border (6″ across). 5 or so hours later (I need to find a quicker way to do those 1.5″ geese) I am so happy with this quilt addition so far.

I am hoping to finish the border this weekend, along with my do.good.stitches blocks. I am just so happy to be feeling well again and sewing. FYI…don’t forget if you sew with browns (this is Kona Bison) that there is a hashtag #sewingwithbrowns. Yes, Brown can be in a modern quilt!!
