Weekend Progress

I am traveling for work this week, in theory, as it has started out with a cancelled flight and rescheduling for tomorrow. I am still optimistic, I will make it one way or another. As I will be out on Wednesday I wanted to share the progress made on the baby quilt I posted last week.

I have now completed the first row!! I love how easy this quilt is with 5 inch squares – everything I have tried so far has been much smaller.

The second row has been put up on the design board to get a sense of look and feel. I can’t wait to have some more time to work on it. I think the combination with Simply Color and Simply Style Charm Packs look great together and I really like the single color blocks.IMG_7784

I am hoping to have this quilt top finished this weekend. In the meantime, I had 5 hours sitting in the airport today sewing hexagons and plan on more hexies over the week while out on the road (loving the hand piecing).

Linking up with Ange @ Heart of Charnwood who is hosting Plum and June’s “Let’s get acquainted Monday’s” and Lee @ Freshly Pieced for WiP Wednesday. I hope everyone has a good week, stay tuned I have a surprise on Thursday.

I would be much grouchier about 5 hours in the airport. At least you had handwork! I like when designers make lines that “play” together well–these are a great example, and I think some of the Lizzy House lines look great together. This is going to be such a bright, colorful baby quilt! I am enjoying watching it grow.

I love it when you can combine the lines easily as well. I was really needing to, to get the pink and the yellow/orange blocks. As for travel, I have mellowed out a lot, this is the first trip this year which is great (and it is NY) since I used to travel about 28 weeks a year (2 years ago). It was nice to get out of the office. Here’s hoping tomorrow – we are trying again 🙂
