I had so much fun today in my first sewing/quilting class ever. Nicole @ Mama love quilts did a free class on piecing techniques at Spoonflower, and I attended. She showed us 3 different techniques on improv piecing:
- Brown Paper Bag piecing
- Improv piecing
- Strip piecing (I don’t have a photo of this block as I run out of time)
This is the first class of four. Her next class, on modern log cabin blocks, is open for registration. I can recommend the classes, and you will have so much fun.
I am also playing with more low-volume fabrics, which I have sewn together in strips. I plan on deconstructing them. Here is a shot of my white, grey and black low-volume stash.
My photo’s this week, were inspired by Beth over at Plum and June. Her Quilt Photography workshop this week is to focus on color….I thought I would start practicing for her link up at the end of the month. Feel free to see what it is all about, the link is below.
Yummy fabric!
Thank you.
I love that blue sashed improv block! Beautiful. Do you feel inspired to make anything from your class blocks?
I think I can make the through the shattered looking glass quilt with the blue sashed block and just build on it.
Not sure yet what I am doing with the brown bag low volume block. I want to use it, maybe some mug rugs for Christmas or trivets???
I just love the blues you have used in your improv block – gorgeous
Thanks for the inspiration! I am planning a table runner with my Christmas scraps from my latest quilt. You have made my day!
Your improv piecing looks great! I need to try this sometime. Low volume prints are definitely the popular item right now. Thanks for linking up!
I loooove those low volume pics! So pretty.
Thank you !!!
Michelle, it was a pleasure having you in the class. I’m so glad you were able to make it. And thank you for the kind words about my classes. I truly enjoy teaching and sharing my love of quilting. I can’t wait until the next class!
