Small finish for Friday + Winner

Ever wondered what to do with those jeans with a torn knee, besides patching them? I have seen a couple of ideas lately. Here are a couple I pinned:

My son has one favorite pair, and in the middle of summer he wanted to wear them. One, it was way to hot, and two they had large holes in the knees. We decide to cut them just above the knee, put some stitching around the bottom and voilà….a pair of shorts were created :-).

We then decided to recycle the cut off pieces, not a large amount so we created a pencil-case for school. I cleaned up the edges, cut two pieces of like size, pulled a zipper and some fabric for lining and the appliqué. I had purchased some time ago now the “Don’t let the pigeon drive the bus” fabric line which my son is enjoying reading at the moment. This is the end result.

WiP Wednesday {04.09.2013}: Triangle MQG projects

We have two activities at the moment going on in the Triangle MQG:

  1. For September’s meeting, this coming weekend, there is a pouch swap….I am still deciding what to do.
  2. For October, there is a brown paper bag challenge, in which we were able to select one Fat quarter print and one fat eighth solid from a bag. This is what I chose….
TMQG_FabricChallenge…not to bad if you ask me. The challenge states that you can add any solids in the same color family as the solid you have chosen + 1 neutral.

So, I decided I need a quick project but something I would like, as I get to keep this one. I have been wanting to do another pillow pop project for a while, being inspired by the craft book blog hop, that is what I chose.

“The Metro”…. I am using 4 blue solids (including the brown bag fat eighth), Kona white for the sashing and the wonderful Echino bicycle print.
