Focus : Week 1

I have had some deadlines lately that I have just missed. I feel bad about it and decided that this month, I am committing to finishing up some projects.

This week’s WiP and focus projects are:

First priority: Sisterhood of the traveling quilts – Laura’s (@littleandlots) quilt addition…She wanted a row of blocks, that represent the rainbow. I was pulling fabric trying to decide and all of a sudden I found that I loved Tula Pink + Alison Glass combination. It just happened I was pattern testing at the same time for Juliet @ Tartankiwi, and feel in love with the Can-can girl paper piecing template. I am almost finish – here is Miss Orange through Miss Violet…

Only Miss Red to go, and I am hoping that she will be finished tonight (PS. there might be a giveaway on Friday to celebrate completing these).
Secondly: I plan to bind my Idea, Design, Create quilt to show at our Guild meeting this weekend…probably my Friday night sew along project. I got the quilt back from Sarah @ Crinkle Love who did the wonderful quilting!!

Planning ahead:

Project of the Month and my goal for ALYoF is the same as last month – my Spoonflower Sampler Quilt. I actually plan, starting next week to release a block or two patterns per week (total of 12 blocks), as I complete the quilting and binding on this project. So stay tuned every Saturday for the releases!!
Sisterhood of the traveling quilt: Jess’ @Quiltyhabit who wants jewel tone curves. I have the perfect start, for this project and I am re-purposing this UFO.
Start and complete my quilt top for our guild’s Spoonflower charity quilt challenge.
Lastly, is my planning and buying supply’s for my possible QuiltCon entries.

2015 – Looking Forward

This past year, has been somewhat a whirlwind but I have enjoyed all the experiences I have had. For 2015, I am looking forward to more of the same. I am really excited about attending QuiltCon and Glamp Stitchalot, looking forward to having a blast and meeting new people.

Goals

I realized last year that my path and goals changed significantly in the last 6 months, so instead of setting goals for the whole year, I am just going to set them for the first 6 months and see how it goes…

My biggest goal for the beginning of the year is to sew just from my stash. If I run out of a fabric in the middle of a project or require backing fabric, I can make a purchase.

Yes, this is my stash….

Continue to make strides in finishing of my projects on a monthly basis (see below for project plans/targets). I will definitely continue goal setting with A Lovely Year of Finishes.
Make my son a quilt via Patchwork City QAL
Participate more in the quilting community
- Launch “Back to School” Tutorial series on my blog, which I hope will be a regular feature (coming beginning in January).
- Plan and teach new classes this year. I hope to teach a needle-turn applique and a paper-piecing class this year.
- I have really enjoyed sharing Design to Reality on Sew Mama Sew, so I would like to continue contributing projects and take the big step of seeing if I can publish in magazines.
- Participate more in my guild (Triangle MQG).
Design goals include:
- Continue participating in Quilt Design a Day.
- Try out a 1-2 new fabric designs via Spoonflower

Project Plan

My monthly plan looks like a lot in the first quarter, but most of the projects are already made and just need finishing (ie. quilted). Also, flexibility is definitely one of my objectives as you never know what comes up.

Wow, that took way longer than I expected (probably shouldn’t have tried multi-tasking in front of TV…3 hours later). Lastly, here are additional WiPs that I have on my pile that I hope to get to through out the year.

Big Q4 Goals!!

I have big goals for Q4 and trying to finish up a few projects, start and finish some of the quilt design a day designs, and finish two sew mama sew projects.

A few projects:

1. Bjorn the Bear 2. Olive 3. Spoonflower Sampler 4. Phased Circles 5. Jungle Ave. Tapa Cloth

Make up these 2-3 of these designs in addition to the sew mama sew projects. If you are interested in testing these patterns when they are complete…let me know by leaving a comment below.
