I am a bearer of good news today!! Yay, love that when that happens 🙂

My second class for my sampler quilt went live today. It is being run at Spoonflower’s Greenhouse and it’s free!! If you are in North Carolina and happen to be in the Raleigh-Durham area on July 27th, the registration is here. The blocks this time round are:

Please note you do not need to have attended the first class. You can use the blocks in other projects like pillows or table runners.

The first two rows are coming together nicely.

Sunday Stash #22: Elements and Metallics

I am so excited today as I get to share with you some of the samples of my new prints. I created a collection called Elements, which features a text-based print of the periodic table and a print of the atomic representation of elements. I know super science geeky!!!

The text-based prints are Cobalt, Copper, Gold, Phosphorous Red, Carbon, Iron, Silver, Oxygen, Calcium (left to right). There is one missing in the photo below Sulphur which is a yellow text on white.

For the atomic element prints, each of the elements are shown as their correct atomic representation. From left to right; Carbon, Iron, Silver, Phosphorous, Copper, Gold.

I already have a quilt in mind using this block design I showed a while ago:
SquareSofa_Block

With this in mind, I hunted for some metallics to work with my prints and was pleasantly surprised at how in vogue they are at the moment.

I love the very neutral and earthy feel this fabric provides. I like the change. That’s it for this week. You can check out my fabric designs at spoon flower, here.

Linking up for Molli Sparkles Sunday Stash (see button on right) which is being hosted by Handmade by Mary Emmens.

QDAD: Quilt Design a Day

I have just finished my first week worth of quilt design a day. It has been a blast and can be difficult depending on what the palette is or what your inspiration is for that day. It does make you look at everything, and see if something will be right for the design that day.

Day 1: Color Palette

My design was based on a Tapa Cloth I have hanging in my room.QAD_TapaClothMotif

Day 2: Color Palette

Inspiration came from Building blocks and Jenga.QDAD_BuildingBlocks_11June2014

Day 3: Color Palette

“Broken Society”. This design started off as just hexagons, which reminded me of a hive and society…leading to me thing of today’s society…broken.QDAD_Broken Society_13JUNE2014

Day 5: Color Palette

“Life” is inspired by the video play and the new google play icon. I loved these colors. This design is on my possibly make list.QDAD_life_14June2014

Day 6: Color Palette

Day 7: Color Palette

I loved how this color palette reminded me of earth and water colors. Anne had a great analogy of an abstract oasis so I am stealing the idea “Abstract Oasis”. This is also on my possibly make list. It is inspired by a painting at my office.

Anyway, more designs are to come, and can be seen also on Instagram.
