30 / 30 Sewing Challenge check-in

It has been a challenging week for more than one reason or another. The biggest news, was when the hubby rang to say he broke his collar-bone playing soccer at work. What you might find shocking, is that this was the second broken bone (two different ones), that he has broken in the last 12 months, in the same arm, playing soccer at work…..I know, right!!!  😀

I still managed to get most of my time in this week for the challenge, starting with some paper piecing, trying out my new pattern. I hope to finish these Week 2 of March.

The rest of the week, I spend most of the time cutting the first half of my X & + blocks.

And on Saturday, I was in going through the motions…. “sewing, sewing and keep on sewing”.

So this upcoming week, I plan on finishing the tapa star cushions and completing 1/2 of the X & + blocks (which is 24 blocks).  Linking up with Sarah @ Berry Barn Designs for the 30/30 Sewing Challenge check-in.

WiP Wednesday: Cutting (ack!!) and Tuesday Winner (yay)

For the 30 mins for 30 days sewing challenge, I said I would concentrate on my X & + Blocks and try and finish the top. First steps though….cutting, which as you know I hate!! I am going to try and concentrate on 20 blocks at a time so it does not overwhelm me.

Last night, those who saw my instagram pic (ml_wilkie) saw I was cutting…after 1 1/2 hours this was the result; 4 green blocks, 3 blue blocks all ready to be sewn up:

The other project, I am hoping to finish this month (possibly this weekend) is my initial trial of my paper piecing pattern for the Tapa Star striped block (if you are on instagram you would have seen this):

Sunday Stash #8 -2014: A splash of spring

My latest purchase from Hawthorne Threads, reminded me today of Spring. Yes, you know that season that hasn’t quite arrived yet. It is actually teasing us. It was here today, gone tomorrow (snow/sleet is back).

So, to share with all those that desperately need a glimpse of Spring, here are a selected few prints from the line Meadow by Leah Duncan for Art Gallery Fabrics.
