February goal check

This weekend has been really productive!!!, and it means that I am closer to my February Goals. If you remember, I linked up with A lovely year of finishes  and The Girl who Quilts (and I won the give-away, which is so cool!!!)
A Lovely Year of Finishes The Girl Who Quilts

This is a check-in on where my goals are.

  1. As mentioned on Friday 1st, complete top and back of my “Four Seasons in one day” (named after a crowded house song)
I have now almost completed the top – I worked out a way to make the border in more of a block instead of a string which gave me more manageable pieces to work with. I also worked out the corner pieces as well 🙂

  2. Finish 4 sets of chair bags.
I have cut out 2 sets of chair bags but have not started sewing yet.
  3. Finish 4 sets of pot holders.
I have 3 sets of pot holders completed…our kitchen is a light green – these are the ones I made for use in our kitchen.

  6. Try out a paper piecing block.
Not started yet but I have something in mind.

More general goals

    See yesterday’s update here.
  2. Post 3 times a week min.
Check – doing well. I also joined Pinterest, I was struggling with just using bookmarks to find things I liked in the www. Let me know if you have a site or which sites you would recommend I follow.

100th post, give away and February’s goals

Guess what??? This is my 100th post. In celebration of all the support and fun I have had so far, I have my first give away…. a pair of pot holders I have made (seen here or here or in the color of the winners choice). Like the post, leave a comment or become a follower; and a winner will be chosen at random, and announced next Friday.

What are my plans for the near future – well at least for February??? Well, I linked up with A lovely year of finishes and The Girl who Quilts to give me the incentive I need to finish some of my projects and my goals for 2013.

UFO – what to do with the outer border

My goal for February is to finish the top and bottom of the quilt and be in the process of quilting it. I linked up with A lovely year of finishes to give me the incentive I need.
A Lovely Year of Finishes

So currently, my first quilt is still a UnFinished Object. I am posting today as I would like some feedback on the border by the greater quilting community (linking up with Amanda @ CrazyMomQuilts).

I have finished 1/2 of the top of my 4 seasons quilt. I am really liking the choice of the Notting Hill, Joel Dewberry fabric choice for the borders. Below, are the pictures of the season panels of the quilt, that will help explain my options.

I have two options for the main outer border, and would like feedback to help me make a decision, as I am not sure which way to go.

Option 1: I was thinking of putting a parallelogram (1/2 chevron) pattern on the edge for the main border, which is shown currently below.

Option 2: The inside borders are just a simple straight line border using scraps of varying sizes – should I use this design also for the outer border?

What do you think?
