Project of the Month??

I know this sounds terrible but I am struggling this month on what I should choose as my “A lovely year of finishes”.

This is what should have happened in April, which is not too bad:

April Where is it at?
Attend Nashville Sew Down DONE
Blocks and Patterns complete for
Sample Block Mini Quilt
 3/9 COMPLETE
Scrap-bee-licious Bee Blocks  ALMOST COMPLETE (1 complete,
2 cut and ready for piecing + 1 cut)
Stash Bee Blocks  DONE
Pillow Pop QAL (threadbias)  LOW PRIORITY – NO PROGRESS
Border & Lines Project Check-in  NO PROGRESS

I did add additional projects too, unfortunately that has meant more UFO’s. You can see my original goals for May here. This month, my projects are varied and I would like to make progress on all of it.

  • Sample Quilt (finish off all 9 blocks)
    Spoonflower_Class1_Blocks
  • Tapa Star Pillows (Finish completely)
    IMG_1562
  • DS Chicopee pillow
    IMG_1564
  • Stitch and Flip Quilt (Baste, Quilt and Bind) – Practice FMQ
    Stitch_and_FlipQuilt
  • Lotta Aerial Quilt (Baste, Quilt and Bind)
    LottaAerialQuilt
  • Bee Blocks (Scrap-bee-licious and Stash bee blocks)

However, the one project I select for this month, is a project that is brand new and not a any list previously. It is a baby quilt made with Juliet @ Tartankiwi’s butterfly paper piecing block. I have a color scheme in mind and a design, so stay tuned.!! This is what I a linking up.

Linking up with “A lovely year of finishes” (see button on the right).

2014 – Looking forward

After reading Daisy’s post @ Ants to Sugar, instead of going a fabric diet, I am going to plan out my year (see: Amy’s post @ Badskirt on Curate) to control my fabric purchases and other aspects of my crafty doings.

So,  this post is to see what my year will look like. Take stock on what I am participating in. Also, take a look at my goals.

Goals (keeping it simple)

  • First off, I need to be realistic….I will be doing very well, if I can finish a quilt a month.  Luckily all of them, have more or less been started, so I think this is doable. I will be participating in “A Lovely Year of Finishes” to stay on track.
  • Host Book Review Tuesday every two weeks
  • New Project – Borders and lines (see below)
  • Attempt to be published in a quilting magazine
  • Teach a quilting class
  • Maintain posting a recipe per week

Balance + New Project

I was fascinated a while back, as one of the blogs I followed, posted about the Sketchbook Project, run by the Brooklyn Art Library. You receive a sketchbook and your job is to fill the pages on a given theme.  I was inspired by one of the themes, they had in the list “Borders and lines”.

To get balance back with the other art areas that I enjoy, I have decided to start a year long project to explore “Borders + Lines” in multitude of media. I plan to check in at a minimum once every two months to share what I have done.

WiP Wednesday: Triple Zipper Pouch {20.03.2013}

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced
My work in progress this week is the triple zipper pouch, I am thrilled to finally start it. This has been on my to do list for both February and March, I had chosen out my fabric. All the pieces are cut out and I have put the web interface on the relevant pieces.

Hoping to finish for Friday. In the meantime, I am thinking of signing up for another Craft show at a local outdoor market – Western Wake Farmers Market. They are holding a Spring Craft Fair in May, so it should have warmed up by then, and the entry fee is not that bad. That gives me 8 weeks (well, 7 as I have one business trip in the middle there), which I think I can pull stock together by then. If I sign-up then I would have meet one of my yearly goals…..I suppose that means there is not much more to think about 😉
