Getting back to it….

I am sure we have all had those weeks. You know when you have no idea when you will get back to your hobbies (i.e. quilting) or blogging. That has been my last month at work.

Good news though, I was able to go on our Modern Quilt Guild’s retreat this weekend, jump starting a couple of projects. It was great to spend time with friends and so many great projects were created/worked on!!

One of my biggest successes this weekend, was I finally started quilting Phased Circles, choosing matchstick quilting. I love how the first block has turned out, however I could be in trouble for finishing this up Nov 30th for quiltcon….the one block took at least 12 hours….5 more to go.

Testers Wanted

Thank you for the response for testers. I will be sending an email out this week to each of the testers for both quilts. I have will have 3 testers per quilt, but I will also email those that were interested in testing as I have a couple of other quilt patterns coming up.

Announcement: New Spoonflower Class
SpoonflowerClass4

My last Modern Quilting class is happening on the Sunday 23rd November at 2-5pm. It covers everything you need to know about finishing a quilt and various methods; pin basting vs. glue basting, FMQ/Straight-line quilting (walking foot), Machine binding vs. hand binding. If you are in the Raleigh-Durham area you can register for the class here.

Pattern testers wanted

Participating in Quilt design a Day has been wonderful. It has allowed me to put some ideas down and try out some of those designs.

I am in the process of writing up the patterns for the following quilts and I am looking for at least 2 testers per pattern. I hope to have the patterns written by the end of the month (30th November), and would like to have the feedback finished end of December. Note: Since it is Christmas and all I would be open changing the date mid-January.

“Ranger’s Station”
Technique is all piecing, the middle blocks are 18 x 18″ each. The quilt finishes at 60  x 60″.

“Celestial Spheres”
Technique for this one is needle turn applique. It currently is written for a 36″ x 36″ finish, but would love feedback for this from the testers.

I will link up the tester’s projects during the launch of the pattern and their blog. The tester will receive both patterns for free.

Just leave a comment below with your

  • name
  • blog page or flickr or instagram name
  • which pattern you would like to test

if you are interested or send me an email ml_wilkie (at) hotmail (dot) com.

On another note, look at this fantastic quilt from Bethany @ Sew Impressed, she made up one of my designs (week 13) for charity (donating to her local children’s hospital). Thank you Bethany for sharing it with me.
